The 2016 edition of the Chilean wine guide Descorchados has brought excellent news for Viña Ventisquero and our brands, consolidating years of work and highlighting once again classic styles, blends and also Mediterranean varieties.

Kalfu Sumpai Sauvignon Blanc 2015 from Atacama scored 96 points and was selected as best wine from the north of Chile and one of Chile's best Sauvignon Blancs. This was a tremendous score for a line that was only launched last year. Many of the wines in the Kalfu range ranked among the best from Leyda and the best from northern Chile.

The Tara line, born in the heart of the Atacama Desert, proved its quality with the 2014 vintage, as all three wines scored 95 and were ranked among the best wines from the north. Tara Red Wine 1 was named Chile's best Pinot Noir, Tara White 1 ranked as one of the best Chardonnays and the Syrah-Merlot blend Tara Red Wine 2 was selected as one of the best red blends in Chile.

Enclave, Ventisquero's iconic wine had one of its best vintages in 2013, as revealed by its score of 95 points. It was also ranked among the best Cabernet Sauvignons in Chile and one of the best from the legendary valley of Alto Maipo.

Ventisquero's premium lines, Pangea, Syrah 2012; Herú, Pinot Noir 2014 and Vértice Carmenere-Syrah blend 2012 also proved their quality with 94, 94 and 93 points respectively. Pangea and Vértice were also selected as among the best from Apalta, and Herú as one of Chile's best Pinot Noirs and one of the best from Casablanca.

To round off Ventisquero's excellent results, the seven varieties in the Grey line gained an average of more than 92 points, consolidating the quality of these single block wines, which are now in their 15th vintage. Grey GCM 2015, a blend of Garnacha, Cariñena and Mataro, rediscovers these Mediterranean varieties in a fresh wine, which is drunk within a year and which, with its 94 points, was ranked among the best wines from Apalta and among the best red blends. Grey Chardonnay 2014 and Grey Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 each scored 93 points and both ranked among the best in their categories.

A great year for Viña Ventisquero.
