Two awards, 28 wines scoring over 90 points and 19 mentions in different rankings: Viña Ventisquero’s results in the 2015 edition of the wine guide Descorchados reveal the consistent good quality of its wines.

In the face of competition from 350 wineries from Argentina, Chile and Uruguay, 28 Viña Ventisquero wines scored more than 90 points.Tara, wines from the far north of Chile, performed well again, with Tara Chardonnay 2013 and Tara Syrah Merlot 2013 -both from the Huasco Valley- achieving 95 points.

In this, the 17th edition of the Descorchados wine guide, Kalfu made a good debut. This new line of coastal wines which Viña Ventisquero is set to launch on the domestic market stood out, with its powerful wines achieving outstanding scores. Kalfu Sauvignon Blanc 2014 from the Huasco Valley in Atacama scored 94 points in this, its first year.

Patricio Tapia, who writes the guide, highlighted the trend among wineries to seek to develop different wines. “We were struck by how many new projects there are involving styles of wine never before tried in Chile. Viña Ventisquero is among those which is experimenting with different wines,” he said.

According to Felipe Tosso, head winemaker at Viña Ventisquero, the good results achieved by the different brands –Tara, Kalfu, Ramirana and Ventisquero– show the consistent good quality of the different lines and are proof of the passion and consistency of the winery’s viticultural and winemaking team.
