In this, the 17th edition of the Descorchados wine guide, Kalfu made a good debut. Kalfu Sauvignon Blanc 2014 from the Huasco Valley in Atacama scored 94 points in this, its first year.
Patricio Tapia, who writes the guide, highlighted the trend among wineries to seek to develop different wines. “We were struck by how many new projects there are involving styles of wine never before tried in Chile. Viña Ventisquero is among those which is experimenting with different wines,” he said.
According to Felipe Tosso, head winemaker at Viña Ventisquero, the good results achieved by the different brands –Tara, Kalfu, Ramirana and Ventisquero– show the consistent good quality of the different lines and are proof of the passion and consistency of the winery’s viticultural and winemaking team.
